Summer Cleaning
Today is the first official day of summer and I have procrastinated to the point that now I’m planning to do summer cleaning instead of spring cleaning. In addition to clearing out some physical clutter, I need to do a bit of mental housekeeping. Out with the old and in with the new!
If you aren’t getting what you want out of life, take a good look at what you are holding onto. When your closet, garage, pantry, or dresser drawers are full of stuff you longer need or use, you don’t have the space to bring in anything new. The same is true with a lot of other things in your life. Are you holding on to some relationships that are no longer working for you? Are you working at a job that has become just a paycheck? Are you clinging to beliefs or fears that are preventing you from moving ahead?
Try the following exercise. Take some time and think about what you are tolerating in all aspects of your life. Write down everything you are putting up with or settling for in your physical environment, with your family and friends, with your finances, with your career, and with your health and wellbeing. When you are finished, review the list you created. How do you feel?
Tolerations are energy sappers. Which of these tolerations will you throw out so that you have the space and energy to bring in what you want?
