Conflict Management

I was a guest on a BlogTalkRadio program earlier this week in a segment about managing conflict in the workplace. The show, which is part of the WOW Women! Series, is hosted by Barb Giamanco. Barb is a fellow coach, business owner, and co-founder of Women’s Mentor Network (WMN). Listen to the program segment to learn more about the nature of conflict and how to handle it more effectively. In the interview, I reference the following definition of conflict from a book published by the Center for Creative Leadership:

“Conflict is any situation in which interdependent people have apparently incompatible interests, goals, priciples or feelings.”

That definition comes from a book entitled “Becoming a Conflict Competent Leader.” Buy the book at Amazon.com using this link (note: I get a few cents if you buy the book using the link I supplied).

I also wrote the feature article for the April 2008 issue of the WMN newsletter. The title of the article is Can’t We All Just Get Along? You can read the article here or go to the Resources page of this website to read this and other articles that I’ve written for publication.

I offer training and one-on-one coaching to help leaders and teams learn the skills they need to resolve disputes, collaborate, and negotiate in the workplace and at home. Please contact me (via my contact form) to learn more about these services or enter a comment on this blog post.
