Ever since Microsoft introduced Vista, its new operating system, I’ve been thinking about upgrading. I’ve read a lot of reviews and asked friends and colleagues for their viewpoints. I haven’t upgraded yet, so I have to admit that I’m just not ready to change. If I upgrade, will I create new problems for myself? And, what about the learning curve? There’s comfort in the familiar, even when I know that something better is ‘out there.’

So, what does this have to do with coaching? Coaching can help you upgrade your career, health, and relationships. Good stuff, right? Yet, many people are reluctant to work with a coach even when they know there is something better ‘out there’ for them. There is comfort in the familiar. Upgrading might push them into unknown territory. It might be uncomfortable to explore the unknown. Or, it might be better than they ever imagined possible.
